Electric guitar now more popular than violin
The BBC have published an interesting news article about the state of learning to play musical instruments in UK schools and what instruments kids are choosing to learn.
Their headline reads that the guitar is now more popular than the violin. Speaking as someone who just about managed to scrape through grade 4 violin at school (‘scrape’ being the operative word!) I can see the attraction! Mind you, when I was learning the violin, the school did loan me one to practice on, all be it a cheap mass produced Chinese one. Does that mean that schools are lending kids electric guitars? If so, mine’s a mid 60s US Fender Strat with a Vox AC30 amp please!
