THE HAVEN by SIMON LAW was recorded in September 2018 with the sole intention of it being the last track on a new compilation album that was being released to celebrate the last 20 years of music from one of clients, Plankton Records.
No one had heard the song prior to the day of recording and those in attendance at the session were blown away by the song and Simon’s performance. It was decided there and then that it deserved to have its own single release – so here it is!
The song is deeply personal to Simon but so many people will identify with the circumstances and thoughts that inspired it. Simon wrote it when visiting his mother in her care home in January. She is suffering from dementia and for the first couple of hours of his visit would not wake up so Simon got out his guitar and wrote this song. The song is called “The Haven” because the care home his mother is living in is in Wales and the Welsh name translates to “The Haven”.
It a beautiful song with a touching lyric of love tinged with both sadness and a determined hope
