Album Description
KEV WALFORD is a singer/songwriter originally from Liverpool, who is now based in Suffolk. During his musical journey has had major recording and publishing deals and he has spent the last 4 years gigging, recording and collaborating mainly with Suffolk musician and singer Kelly Bayfield, where they have garnered a reputation for their strong harmonies and great songs.
Kev’s music is now generally described as Americana although he has tried to incorporate folk, country, cajun and pop elements within this. True to form the songs on this album retain the strong 2 and 3 part harmonies on which Kev has built his reputation, but this is quite a diverse set of songs and includes a number of guest singers, including the aforementioned Kelly. The wonderful vocal harmonies carry a strong sense of Crosby Stills and Nash in them. Other major songwriting influences include some of the greats like Paul McCartney, James Taylor and more recently the likes of Sam Beam (Iron & Wine) and Jakob Dylan.
Following a number of appearances at some major Americana Festivals last year, and also with being part of New Orleans based Drew Young’s Band when he tours Europe, there is a distinct Americana feel to quite a few of these songs – hence the album title!
