EP Description
Andrew Kisumba, leader of Cedar Church in the UK’s second largest city Birmingham, is a man who has a passion for music and especially singing and Cedar Church has a love and desire to bring the community together in unity in whatever way they can. They started doing this through hosting open invitation singing evenings which
grew and led to Andrew and the church being invited to participate in local organised community events to bring people and communties together to experience the joy of communal singing.
This culminated last year with a Christmas Community singing event involving the Major the West Midlands which was such an enjoyable and positive experience that plans were put in place with the Major’s office for an open-air community event to take place in July. A local male voice choir and steel band were keen to work alongside the church on the event. Of course, with the arrival of the Corona virus and the lockdown situation this event has been postponed.
Undeterred, with the event on hold (to be rescheduled for a later date), Andrew had already started writing a new contemporary song called ‘Singstanding’ for everyone to perform and sing together on the day and with the Corona Virus situation the words of the song seem even more relevent and to resonate more with people’s lives. A rallying call to the individual and the community as a whole on the power of love and standing together it’s Andrew and the Church’s hope that everyone will indeed be ‘Singstanding’ and they look forward to performing it together with their whole community again in the not too distant future.
