EP Description
An experienced performer with a varied career as a solo artist and session vocalist, Melanie Rose combines her love of gospel with the warm fluid tones of Jazz and the deeply soulful and searing sound of the Blues. Born in East London, she cut her musical teeth singing Gospel music as a soloist in a vocal harmony group; performing in concert halls, theatres, and music festivals in the UK, Europe and America.
Indeed, she has recorded and performed on BBC TV and Radio; Greenbelt Music Festival, Ealing Jazz Festival, the Astoria Theatre, the Project, and the Borderline. At the Royal Festival Hall she performed as a guest soloist for national charity CRISIS, as well as touring with the amazing Rainbow Beach Project, a multimedia presentation fusion of Gospel and Jazz based on the work of Martin Luther King Jr.
Drawing inspiration from the music of Mahalia Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack and many of Motown’s finest she gained an appreciation of the power and passion of these great performers, and after then being introduced to jazz and the amazing artistry of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday she was hooked, seeking to make her own music and vocal interpretations a fusion of all these influences which all come to the fore on this 3 song EP.
